From feeling broken…

I thought my background as a personal trainer and Yoga teacher would set me up perfectly for pregnancy and postpartum recovery, but after the birth of my second son, my body became unfamiliar to me. The small abdominal separation I developed after the birth of my first son was now bigger, and not only did I hate my still pregnant looking belly, I was unsure how or even if I should be practicing yoga. Another move and baby boy number three left me with diastasis and a prolapse. I felt like a complete failure, and was afraid I would never be able to move and exercise the way I wanted to again. Discouraged and frustrated, I began a mad search for answers about how to heal my core and pelvic floor.

…to creating healing

From the time I first discovered my diastasis, until I developed a prolapse, I had tried many online training programs. I learned some valuable information, but I never fully healed. I felt broken and alone and I wondered if something was wrong with me? My search for answers landed me on two blogs that made brief mention of a word I had never heard before: hypopressives. Both bloggers had almost completely healed their prolapses with this technique. Every other resource I found on the subject of prolapse mentioned surgery and/or a limited lifestyle. When I read about these two women, I knew I had to learn this technique. Upon further investigation, it just so happened that a Low Pressure Fitness trainer lived in my area! I was able to not only work with her, but also get certified as a trainer.

My journey with Low Pressure Fitness and hypopressives has not been smooth or linear. I heard of so many woman who healed very quickly! That was not the case for me, but at three years post-partum it was confirmed that I was prolapse- and diastasis-free! I went on to have one more baby (a girl this time!), armed with the tools through pregnancy and postpartum to keep my pelvic floor and core healthy. I was successful! My journey to healing was long there were many bumps along the road. I learned a lot of things the hard way. I used to wish I could have been one of those women who healed a a month or two, but looking back, all the ups and downs and mistakes and failures gave me the knowledge and experience that to make me the trainer I am today. I attribute much of my healing to Low Pressure Fitness, and along the way, I also learned to exercise and move my body with proper form and breathing and to challenge my core in appropriate ways. I am confident that I have the tools and experience to help you on your journey to healing. SO LET’S GO!
